What is a Hair and Scalp Analysis?

A hair and scalp analysis is a microscope service, typically performed by a

Cosmetologist, Dermatologist or Trichologist, that takes a closer look at the overall hair and scalp health.

"The condition of the scalp is vitally important to the health of the hair."

Have you, you reading this, ever had a scalp treatment? Leave a comment with your answer.

Most would say no, many have had hair treatments but scalp treatments, not so much.

Did you know that hair has no vital function in humans? Interesting, huh. We don't need hair, but we neeed hair. Since hair is an unnecessary necessity, let's start at the root. A hair and scalp analysis provides a microscopic view of the scalp, hair and hair follicles.

This process provides clients and professionals with the knowledge to improve the scalp's overall health. Each analysis should determine scalp moisture, hair density and follicle health.

Under the microscope, scalp moisture glows golden. Unless it's dry of course.

A head and scalp analysis checks for scalp density or the amount of hairs on the scalp in each area. As you may know different areas of the scalp have different densities. In adults, the sides and back of the scalp may have a lower hair density then the crown of the scalp. Under the microscope, dormant pores are visible if thinning is present.

Next, the hair follicles are looked at. The hair follicle is like a tree from the ground, if the tree root is smothered, it will die. Many times hair loss is self inflicted. Not eating enough, not drinking enough water, medications, heavy hair products, sleep deprivation… the list is longer. Under the microscope we see if the follicles are clogged with excess sebum or product build up. Excess sebum and product buildup can cause bacteria and fungus to grow and prevent hair growth. A head and scalp analysis makes you aware of the scalp health so hair goals can be met. Are your hair follicles functioning at full capacity?
